Environments
This section walks through my approach to illustrating environments. With enough information, back story, and reference images, I create sketches focusing on dynamic camera angles, lighting, and composition. I try to use elements in relation to each other to indicate scale and tell a story or capture a moment.

I begin my creative process by gathering reference material of existing Destiny swords. I focus on shape language and silhouettes while integrating design requirements and brand guidelines from the start. Edge geometry, grip ergonomics, balance points, ornamental detailing, and emissive accents are studied with intent to ensure every blade feels authentic, functional, and consistent with the franchise’s visual identity.

In this phase, I generate and refine sketches, developing the strongest ideas into clear silhouettes that reinforce gameplay readability. By sharpening details and composition, I clarify design intent and provide direction that guides the team toward a unified vision for the sword’s form and function.

Once the design direction is established, I explore color schemes that enhance player readability while reinforcing mood, atmosphere, and narrative. Strategic use of color defines material contrast, emphasizes blade edges, and supports storytelling elements, bringing the sword concept fully to life.
