Bree

This project was inspired by the wonderful sketches of John Howe for the Lord of the Rings movies. I wanted to capture the lighting and mood of the town of Bree: post-rain and waning light of sunset. To give it some character I included a horse (Bill?) curiously looking through the window at the frivolity inside.

Surprisingly, one of the hardest challenges of this project was coming up with one scene that could showcase as many technological features of the Xbox 360. While working at Microsoft's Advanced Technology Group (ATG) I built this entire scene in 3D, with motion blurred racing Mini Coopers, roaming sheep, flying crows, sweeping grass, swaying trees, billowing smoke and volumetric clouds.

This piece was commissioned by an architecture firm to showcase a new line of countertops and cabinet designs.

As you can tell, the art direction of the Lord of the Rings movies really impressed me. I built this scene for the fun of it.

3D Boats & Real Boats

Piranha & Shomari

If you've scrolled this far down you must be interested to know more about these two vessels. I was hired by Zyvex Technologies to build a lot of 3D concepts of these two boats. The hulls were built from the company's patented nano-tube technology, which made them stronger and lighter than conventional materials. Both boats have a gyroscope built-in for stability in rough waters. After many iterations on the computer both vessels were eventually built using my 3D models as reference. They were put to sea around 2014.
